What can I flush down my toilet?
Our sewers and your drains are only designed to carry the three Ps - paper, poo and pee.
To avoid blockages you should only flush these down the toilet.
Around 75% of blockages are caused by disposable items and costs British householders millions of pounds annually in plumbing bills.
You can help to avoid blockages by putting these items in the bin:
- make-up, cleaning and baby wipes (even if they say ‘flushable’)
- nappies
- cotton buds
- plasters and bandages
- dental floss
- tampons and applicators (both plastic and cardboard applicators)
- condoms
- sanitary towels and incontinence pads
- razor blades
