Can I divert a surface water drain?

If the surface water drain is shown as a public surface water sewer on our records, the same process for diverting a sewer applies. If it is a drain, this would be private and would not involve us.

Any diversion works would need to be agreed with whoever is responsible for the drain. This could be the owners of the properties connected to it, the highway authority, Environment Agency or local council.
